Missions information for the Miami Baptist Association.
Representatives from Miami Baptist Association Churches joined together July 6-11 with Matthew 25 Ministries on the Appalachian Missions Trip in Barbour County, W.V.
• There were 84 volunteers this year from churches of many denominations throughout greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. We worked at Mount Vernon Elementary, Belington Elementary and Philip Barbour High School which are located in rural West Virginia.
• More than 80% of the students are on free or reduced lunch.
• Matthew 25 has been helping Mount Vernon School for the past ten years to maintain a safe and effective learning environment for the students and staff.
• During the week together, we performed maintenance projects on the school and ran an educational day camp for the students.
Crossway Community Church, Mt. Washington Baptist Church and Kenwood Baptist Church were among the MBA congregations participating in the event. Pictured above are Crossway representatives at the Alderson Broaddus University which is where we stayed.
"We are a Matthew 25 people. This excites me about being an American Baptist. We are the hands and feet of Jesus. We are Christ's heart. Our ears are tuned to the voices that are seldom heard. Our eyes focused on those who have become invisible." ~ Rev. Elizabeth B. Congdon, Senior Pastor of The First Baptist Church of Trenton, NJ. CLICK HERE to read more from a reflection written by Rev. Congdon. This piece is part of the new featured series, "Proud to be an American Baptist." You can visit the THIS PAGE for more stories.
